OFFICE OF THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Executive Director
R. Davis Layne

Executive Director, Raymond Davis Layne, joined the VPPPA in mid-January of 2005. Davis is responsible for the guidance, direction and day to day activities of the VPPPA National Office staff.

Before joining VPPPA, Mr. Layne was a well-respected Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) official. With safety and health experience reaching back to the U.S. Army Material Command Field Safety Agency in 1967 and as part of OSHA since 1971, Mr. Layne is an expert in the safety and health arena.

During his days at OSHA, Mr. Layne was an exceptional worker and soon became an area director, deputy regional administrator, OSHA regional administrator and finally deputy assistant secretary for OSHA in 1999. In addition to these roles, Mr. Layne also served the Agency as acting assistant secretary of Labor for OSHA for the first eight months in 2001, where he managed the day-to-day operations of the Agency and its nationwide staff of more than 2,200 employees.

Assistant Executive Director
Adam K. Pawlus

Adam Pawlus joined the VPPPA on February 18, 2002. He has served the association in the roles of Communications & Outreach Coordinator, Manger and Director; served briefly as the Acting Executive Director; and, is currently the Assistant Executive Director. He is responsible for the guidance, direction and day-to-day operation of the national office, acts on behalf of the Executive Director, creates and manages the national budget, and coordinates internal communications as well as strategic external communications.

Adam received his B.S., double majoring in Political Science and Speech Communications, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, IL, and his M.A. in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of Georgia at Athens, GA. He is a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) - National Capital Chapter.

Executive Assistant
Carla Esteva

Executive Assistant Carla Esteva joined the VPPPA staff on November 22, 2004. In this position, she acts as the Association's primary contact for international VPP/VPPPA activity. Carla also assists the Office of the Executive Director with Administrative duties, coordinates interaction with the National Board of Directors and facilitates communication with the membership department by processing merchandise.

Carla is originally from Venezuela where she received her Juris Doctor Degree on October 2000. She is finishing her Master's in Political Science with a minor in International Affairs at Marshall University in Huntington, WV.

Technical Services Manager
Bryant Walker

Bryant Walker joined the VPPPA staff on August 15, 2005. As the Technical Services Manager for the Association, his roles include, but are not limited to, analyzing VPPPA National Office programs, processes and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness and compiling reports, statistics and summarizing feedback for the Office of the ED and Board of Directors. He also serves as the VPPPA On-site Systems Administrator.

Bryant received his B.S. in Mathematics from Liberty University in May 2004. Additional, Bryant is A+ Certified by the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) as an IT Technician.



ACCOUNTING DEPARTMENT

Controller
Eric Nielsen

Eric Nielsen joined VPPPA on June 27, 2005. In his position, he manages all aspects of VPPPA's accounting and finances and handles financial registration at VPPPA's annual conference. He also acts as liaison with regional treasurers on annual report issues.

Eric holds a degree in finance and accounting from City College, London. He has worked for a number of non-profit and for profit organizations in the Washington, DC area.

Bookkeeper
Marianne Trinh

Marianne Trinh joined VPPPA on April 16, 2007. In this position, she manages many of the accounting functions at VPPPA, including accounts payable and accounts receivable, assists the Controller with other daily accounting functions and works extensively with VPPPA's database.

Marianne attended the University of Phnom-Penh in Cambodia in 1968. Since then, she has acquired over 20 years of accounting experience with a number of organizations in the Washington D.C. area.



COMMUNICATIONS & OUTREACH DEPARTMENT

Communications & Outreach Director
Sanna Raza

Sanna Raza returned to the VPPPA on August 27, 2007, as the Communications & Outreach Director. In this position, she oversees the Communications & Outreach Department, acts as the editor of VPPPA's quarterly publication, The Leader, coordinates outreach efforts, serves as the association's media contact and produces brochures and electronic presentations to inform targeted audiences about the VPP and VPPPA.

Sanna received her BA in Mass Communications from the University of North Carolina at Asheville and her MSc in International Applied Communication from the University of Central Lancashire, Preston, U.K. She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and its National Capital Chapter.

Government Affairs Coordinator
Korey Belanger

Korey Belanger joined the VPPPA staff on May 5, 2008. In this position, she develops and implements the association's government affairs strategy on issues concerning regulatory agencies and Congress, while also keeping VPPPA members abreast on current issues. She also serves as a liaison with government agencies and several national board of directors committees.

Korey received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Government and International Politics with a concentration in International Affairs and a minor in Spanish from George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.



CONFERENCE & EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

Conference & Education Director
Sara Taylor

Sara Taylor joined VPPPA on March 26, 2007. In this position, Sara organizes the nationally sponsored VPP 101 Workshops, VPP Application Workshops® and Strengthening Star Quality Workshops, and manages the marketing efforts for the conference and workshops.

Sara graduated from Longwood University in 2003 and received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing.

Conference & Education Coordinator
Katie Aceto

Katie Aceto joined the VPPPA staff on July 9, 2007. In this position, she provides support for all aspects of coordinating and managing the Annual National Conference, including workshops, exhibitors for the expo hall and conference marketing efforts.

Katie graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a Public Relations focus from George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.



MEMBERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT

Membership & Development Manager
Richelle Kelly

Richelle Kelly joined the VPPPA on February 14, 2005. Richelle served the VPPPA membership as the Registrar until January 2006, when she was promoted to Membership & Development Manager. In this position, Richelle manages member services, relations, retention, recruitment and benefits, as well as, advertising, sponsorships and the VPPPA Expo.

Richelle has a technical background in database management and analysis. She is a member of both the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA).

Membership Coordinator
Tammy Thomas

Tammy Thomas joined the VPPPA staff on August 9, 2006. In this position, Tammy provides member service support to VPPPA members by assisting with membership activities including; processing membership dues and new member applications, data entry and database maintenance, generating membership reports and coordinating mailings. Tammy also coordinates the VPPPA's Mentoring Program and the membership booth at the Annual National Conference.

Tammy has experience in database management and has worked for a variety of organizations.



REGISTRATION DEPARTMENT

Registrar
Carlena Ford

Carlena Ford joined the VPPPA on January 30, 2006. In this position, Carlena manages the registration process for the Annual National Conference, select regional chapter events and other educational events.
