Role Summary/Purpose:
    The EHS Manager will provide leadership for the GE-Power-Global Repair Solutions site located in Atlanta, Georgia.
Essential Responsibilities:
    In addition, you will:
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of existing and proposed environmental health and safety Federal and Atlanta, State regulations
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable Waste, Water and Air regulations through required preventative maintenance of the equipment, recordkeeping, preparation of report and plans
  • Implement and execute GE EHS programs, processes to attain full compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Maintain site-specific EHS program and plans in accordance with state and federal regulations and company expectations
  • Provide leadership to site staff, employees and EHS committees that will continue to drive a strong EHS culture
  • Work closely with Operations Teams to ensure effective implementation of all Business and GE EHS Management Systems
  • Drive EHS compliance through audits, process / equipment review and proactive risk elimination and track corrective actions to closure
  • Drive GE Business and Company initiatives and values including IPP Heat Maps, HRP Program submissions etc.
  • Coordinate and conduct EHS training for employees contractors and visitors as needed
  • Maintain Contractor and Vendor EHS approval including insurance certifications and qualification to perform work
  • Conduct incident / accident investigations and develop corrective & preventive action plans
  • Maintain EHS expertise to provide technical and regulatory support to Operations teams
  • Coordinate EHS efforts among external GE and non-GE contractors who come to site and collaborate with the GE shared EHS services as needed
  • Compile periodic reports to HQ, work cooperatively with EHS HQ on various simplification and risk reduction projects and initiatives
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 4 years of related EHS experience in industry or manufacturing
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed and perform essential physical requirements in order to maintain compliance with regulations and business expectations
Desired Characteristics:
  • Advanced computer skills, primarily with MS Office software programs, i.e., Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access and able to navigate internet and intranet tools
  • Experience with regulatory agency interaction
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated influencing skills in a team environment workforce
  • Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA, RCRA, CAA, NPDES, TSCA, CWA, NERC and DOT regulations
  • Experience in Compliance Assurance; i.e. ISO9000, ISO14001, ISO18000 etc.
  • Ability to work with site management team and with all levels of management
  • 4 year degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Health and Safety or related technical degree from an accredited college or university
  • Six Sigma Greenbelt certification or Equivalent Quality certification
  • Experience at Manufacturing facility
  • Experience managing Title V Permits, NPDES permits, SWPP and SPCC plans, Hazardous Waste, and other environmental programs
  • Experience with Regulator inspections and disputes
  • Experience generating regulatory required reports such as EDRs, Air Emission Inventories, DMRs, Biennial Reports, etc.
  • Position requires self-starter with strong client and public communication skills
