Under general direction the Safety and Health Representative performs a wide variety of activities to support the safety, health, industrial hygiene, hazardous waste, and disaster preparedness needs of the District; develops, implements, and administers assigned programs, policies, and procedures; provides information and training; conducts and assists other staff with regulatory interpretation; and performs a variety of routine administrative and technical tasks as assigned. This individual will be responsible for supporting OCSD safety programs including auditing construction and maintenance projects; developing and providing safety training courses: reviewing job work plans, blueprints, and permits required including confined space entry and rescue programs for Cal/OSHA compliance; conducting job hazard analyses; assigning work restrictions; issuing appropriate permits; coordinating lead, asbestos, and mold surveys. This person may participate or attend construction management pre-job meetings, Operations and Maintenance pass down meetings, and conducting safety orientation meetings, reviewing and approving safety procedures and programs, inspecting work sites for compliance, reporting discrepancies, and recommending corrective action.

The Safety and Heath Representative will also support ergonomic, fire safety, emergency preparedness, evacuation drills, and office safety activities. Other duties will include developing and delivering assigned training classes, conducting accident investigations, maintaining current hazardous waste inventories, completing District accumulation inspections, scheduling quarterly and special pick-ups, and picking up waste on all District sites.

Under general direction, the Senior Safety and Health Representative performs a wide variety of activities to support the safety, health, industrial hygiene, and disaster preparedness needs of the District; develops, implements, and administers assigned programs, policies, and procedures; provides information and training; conducts and assists other staff with regulatory interpretation; and performs a variety of routine administrative and technical tasks as assigned. Specifically, this individual may be responsible for overseeing the Voluntary Protection Program efforts for the organization; reviewing job work plans, blueprints, and permits required including confined space entry and rescue programs for OSHA compliance; conducting job hazard analysis; assigning work restrictions; issuing appropriate permits.  This person will also be responsible for Safety and Health support to our two plant facilities.  The Senior Safety and Heath Representative will also support ergonomic, fire safety, emergency preparedness, evacuation drills, and office safety activities.  Other duties will include developing instructor and participant guides for assigned training classes, conducting training classes, conducting accident investigations, construction safety management, and hazardous material/waste duties as needed.

Under general direction, coordinates and oversees activities in support of the safety and emergency response needs of the District including assistance with the development, implementation and administration of programs, policies and procedures; provides information and training, regulatory interpretation and technical support to District personnel; and performs a variety of administrative and technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility. Specifically, this person plans, organizes, coordinates, and oversees the development and implementation of various health, industrial hygiene programs, policies and procedures; establishes and environment of workplace safety for the employees by increasing safety awareness.  This position is responsible for the development of programs objectives and designs and conducts safety training programs; develops and/or recommends purchase of training materials; conducts initial and refresher training classes for areas of assignment; develops and organizes specialized training as needed. This person will be responsible for the development, administration, and auditing of safety, health, and hazardous waste programs in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, and according to OCSD policies and procedures. This individual will act as a resource to OCSD personnel and provide technical support on safety and health related issues. In addition, the Health & Safety Specialist will develop and deliver employee safety and health training programs and workshops. Other duties will include reviewing federal, state, and local legislation to monitor its impact on OCSD programs; helping to train, guide, and coach junior level staff, and performing other related duties as required.
