Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) is located about 17 miles away from both the New Orleans Marriott and the Sheraton New Orleans.

Is there transportation to and from the area airports and the event hotels?

Taxis are available at the New Orleans Airport as well as the New Orleans Marriott and the Sheraton New Orleans. The average fare is $36 one-way.

Is there transportation to and from the host hotels and the convention center?

Yes, there will be shuttles running between the hotels and convention center during conference hours. A schedule will be posted closer to the conference.

Is there a parking discount for attendees?

Yes; if you are planning to drive to the event, you may park at the hotel you are staying at. Conference participants staying at the New Orleans Marriott will receive a 30% discount on valet parking rates for a price of $30.10/night plus taxes. Conference participants staying at the Sheraton New Orleans will receive a 20% discount on valet parking rates for a price of $33.60/night plus taxes. You can swipe your hotel key and the discount will be automatically applied. If you are staying at another hotel, you will need to show your conference badge to get the discount.

Does the conference have a dress code?

The dress code for the conference is business casual. Most attendees wear slacks and either a polo or button down shirt; the most important thing is to dress comfortably. There is no need to pack a suit or fancy dress. The conference hall also tends to be chilly, so remember to bring a sweater or light jacket to wear during the workshops. Comfortable shoes are highly recommended as the conference hall is large and you may have to walk long distances between events.

What should I bring to the conference?

Upon picking up your name badge, you will receive a complimentary tote bag which you can use throughout the conference and the expo. Although the workshop rooms will provide you with pens and notepads, a backup pen or pencil could come in handy. You are also encouraged to bring any mobile or tablet devices with you to access our mobile app – it’s great for finding the schedule, note taking, presentation sharing and social networking purposes.

The conference is a great opportunity to meet new people and learn about different ways to improve your safety and health program. Bring your business cards and don’t be afraid to ask new connections for theirs.

Will the conference have WiFi?

No, the convention hall areas will not have free wireless Internet access.

Can my spouse/guest participate in meal functions?

Guests are invited to the opening and closing receptions only on Tuesday night and Thursday night. All other meal functions are for registered attendees. Guest badges can be obtained at the registration desk in front of the Great Hall at the Convention Center.

When does registration officially open? Where is registration located?

Registration will open Monday, August 28 at 7:00 am at the New Orleans Convention Center. You may retrieve your badge and welcome bag at this time. You must have your badge to go to any sessions. The registration desk is conveniently located in front of the Great Hall at the Convention Center.

New this year: We will be holding registration at the New Orleans Marriott on Monday, August 28 from 1:00pm – 5:00 pm. You can come by to pick up your badge and bag so you are ready to go Tuesday morning.

Can I add days to my registration onsite?

Yes, simply visit the registration desk at the Convention Center and a VPPPA staff member will assist you.

Do I need to wear my conference badge throughout the entire conference?

Many events throughout the conference will be ticketed and your badge will grant you access to those events. Your badge will also be scanned before certain workshops and general sessions.

Are there any sessions not included in my registration for the day(s) I have paid for?

You are granted access to all sessions and events taking place on the days in which you are registered.

Will I receive copies/access to materials presented at the conference?

Copies of presentations will be collected before the conference and available on the mobile app for viewing/printing.

What meals are included in the conference registration?

Lunch on Tuesday-Friday will be provided to all registered conference attendees. Coffee and tea will be served in the mornings, and soda and iced tea will be served in the afternoons. The Tuesday reception and Thursday reception will both have heavy hors d’oeurves that can constitute as a meal.
