Olin Chlor Alkali Products has an opening in the St. Gabriel, Louisiana location for an EHS&S (Environmental, Health, Safety and Security) Engineer. This role reports to the ORC Manager and provides daily hands-on support for environmental, health, safety, and security activities.
Qualified candidate will drive EHS&S programs by performance of hands-on daily work activities in EHS&S tasks and assignments; establish EHS&S procedures; complete Division and Regional responsibilities as assigned; perform and track daily, weekly and monthly EHS&S inspections; ensure inspections and documentation of contractors.
He or she will participate in and drive completion of all internal and external EHS&S audits by hands-on performance and documentation per scheduled requirements and provide hands-on guidance and assistance to employees and contractors when needed.
The EHS&S Engineer develops plant specific procedures and assures procedures meet the minimum Division requirements and initiate and evaluate revisions for procedural improvements in EHS&S; Works with the ORC (EHS&S) Managers and other department staff to establish annual departmental goals and objectives and develop tactical strategies to achieve them.
He or she must maintain current knowledge of local, state, and federal EHS&S regulations, including air, water, and hazardous waste regulations; participates as a key driver of the PSM and RMP compliances; develops, conducts and monitors safety and security training for employees, visitors, and contractors as needed; drive the HazCom and Emergency Response Program compliance and training activities, including reporting requirements; lead the plant VPP initiative in order to sustain OSHA VPP status.
The EHS&S Engineer will inspect, maintain and repair (when possible), safety, emergency, and security equipment; train employees in the proper use of this equipment as needed; inspect and monitor safe work habits and practices of employees; engage employees in EHS&S preferred practices; investigate workplace incidents; complete required reports; perform follow-up to investigations and manage corrective action items; maintain effective communication and coordination with supervisors, operators, and technicians; perform all duties in alignment with Olins quality policy and per the ISO9001/RC14001 standards and procedures.
Qualifications:
Minimum requirements: · BS degree in Occupational/Industrial Safety, Environmental Engineering or related discipline required; engineering or other technical disciplines preferred. · Minimum of 2 years experience in a EHS&S role in an industrial environment; process or chemical industry preferred. · VPP and Behavior Based Safety experience preferred. · Demonstrated knowledge and proven skills in plant operations, safety policies & procedures, PSM regulations, Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and federal, state, and local compliance regulations. · Previous emergency response, first aid, fire safety or security experience is preferred. · Proven strong, engaging, people-centered leadership style. · Must be experienced in delivering EHS&S training and possess the ability to effectively interface with site employees at all levels. · Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment to work within the manufacturing process · Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).
