Raymond Davis Layne joined VPPPA in mid-January of 2005 as Executive Director. On July 6, 2012, Davis retired from his position as Executive Director but remains as Senior Advisor.

Before joining VPPPA, Davis was a well-respected Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) official. With safety and health experience reaching back to the U.S. Army Material Command Field Safety Agency in 1967 and as part of OSHA since 1971, Davis is an expert in the safety and health arena.

During his days at OSHA, Davis was an exceptional worker and soon became an area director, deputy regional administrator, OSHA regional administrator and finally deputy assistant secretary for OSHA in 1999. In addition to these roles, Davis also served the Agency as acting assistant secretary of Labor for OSHA for the first eight months in 2001, where he managed the day-to-day operations of the Agency and its nationwide staff of more than 2,200 employees.

Marianne Trinh joined VPPPA on April 16, 2007. In this position, she manages many of the accounting functions at VPPPA, including accounts payable and accounts receivable, assists the Controller with other daily accounting functions and works extensively with VPPPA's database.

Marianne attended the University of Phnom-Penh in Cambodia in 1968. Since then, she has acquired over 20 years of accounting experience with a number of organizations in the Washington D.C. area.

Sara Taylor returned to VPPPA in March of 2013 as the Director of Marketing. Sara was previously the Senior Director of Conference & Education but has since focused her efforts on rebranding VPPPA. In this role Sara will oversee the daily activities and functions of the Membership, Conference & Communications departments while creating and implementing a clear marketing vision for the association.

Sara graduated from Longwood University with a B.S. degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and a minor in Physics. Sara also received her Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation from the Convention Industry Council in September of 2010.

Sarah Neely joined VPPPA on February 19, 2014. She manages the communications and media outreach efforts of the organization as well as the content management of VPPPA publications, email blasts, social media, marketing collateral, print and electronic advertising, and website content.

Sarah graduated from the University of New York in Prague, Czech Republic, in 2008 with a B.A. in Communications and Mass Media. Sarah brings a broad and unique perspective to her role as she draws on her marketing and communications experiences from the architectural, engineering, and financial services sectors.

Jenna Shay joined VPPPA on October 28, 2013, as the Communications Coordinator. In this position, she assists with media relations efforts and public outreach, the editing of print and electronic material and provides social media and email marketing content.

Jenna graduated from Salisbury University with a B.A. in Communications with a concentration in Public Relations and a minor in Marketing Management. She comes to VPPPA with communications and public relations experience from several internships in the non-profit sector.

Latisha Dutch joined VPPPA on July 1, 2013. As the Conference & Education Manager, she oversees all conference logistics including function specifications, contract negotiations, budget management and resource allocation.

Latisha received her BA in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MBA from North Carolina Central University. Additionally, Latisha has received a Certification from George Mason University in Human Resource Management and holds a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) Certification through the Society for Human Resource Management. She is also designated as a Certified Meeting Manager through the Professional Meeting Planner Network.

Amanda Buckner joined VPPPA on August 2, 2013. As the conference and education coordinator, Amanda will support the staff on all aspects of conference coordination. Amanda graduated in May 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA, where she planned and executed many of the events for students and the community. She comes to VPPPA with experience from multiple event planning internships in the non-profit sector.

Tom Webb joined VPPPA in July of 2013 as the Strategic Development & Member Services Manager. In this position, he works closely with VPPPA members to enrich a productive and rewarding membership experience.

Tom graduated from George Mason University with a B. S. in Mathematics. He also received his Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation from the Convention Industry Council in September of 2007.

Laura S. Rotzler, CMP, joined VPPPA in October of 2013 as the member services and administrative coordinator. In this position, she supports cross departmental initiatives that advance greater member engagement and awareness of VPPPA. In addition, she builds and maintains positive relationships with current members, gathers information on changing member needs and trends and supports efforts to increase retention rates. In her hybrid position she also manages conference registrations and is the staff liaison for chapter events and various committees.

Laura Graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Management. She has more than 20 years of experience in events and meetings management and has worked in corporate, government and non-profit industries.

 


 

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS

Charlie Doss joined VPPPA on July 26, 2010, as a Government Affairs Coordinator. Now a Government Affairs Manager, he is responsible for the development and implementation of the association’s government affairs strategy through coordination with the executive director and national board to best meet the needs of VPPPA’s membership. He also monitors regulatory and legislative developments in Washington, D.C., that have implications for the association, works closely with the Communications & Outreach Department to coordinate public affairs and other outreach materials and contributes to online and print publications. Charlie received his B.A.  in International Relations from William and Mary in 2009 and is currently attending George Washington University in pursuit of a M.A. in International Trade and Investment Policy.

Bryant Walker rejoined the VPPPA staff on August 23, 2013, as the information & data analyst manager. In his role, he assists with systems, data, and network support for the association. Bryant works with various departments to enhance computer systems and provides information to aid in planning and projections.

Bryant is an A+ Certified IT Technician and has worked in the IT field for close to 10 years. He graduated from Liberty University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics.
