OSHA’s Heat Enforcement Initiative

The Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration announced Monday that it is initiating enhanced measures to protect workers better in hot environments and reduce the dangers of heat-related hazards.

On days with a heat index of 80°F or higher, OSHA staff will prioritize heat-related interventions and inspections of work activities. The initiative applies to indoor and outdoor worksites in general industry, construction, agriculture, and maritime occupations.
